Frankenstein

I read Frankenstein and also saw the movie when I was in high school. I was never really a big fan of either. When I read it again this time I didn't find it to be as boring as it was a long time ago but I still couldn't get into it as much as I would have liked. I think one of the main reasons I wasn't very into the book was because it took way to long to get to the monsters story. I began to lose interest after a while and I kind of just wanted to get to the section about the monster. I realize now that it was necessary to build up to the monsters story to get all of the background information on Victor and how he got to the point he did in the story. I didn't know that Frankenstein wasn't the name of the monster but Victors last name so I'm happy I now know that. After I finished reading the book I also watched the movie again to see how much of a difference there was between the movie and the book. I noticed a few things that were obvious about it like how his mother died in the movie from giving birth but in the book she died of something else. I did like the movie a bit better in the fact that it spent alot more time on the monster then it did on Victors story. I enjoyed learning about Mary Shelly's background which definitely had an impact on her writting.
